Thirty-one million American’s skip breakfast everyday. As students staying up late doing schoolwork, most would rather an extra hour of sleep than breakfast. But one woman at Kent Market 2 wants to challenge students to wake-up and enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast.

We’ve all heard the saying, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Yet studies show that 31 million Americans skip breakfast everyday. By not eating breakfast side effects can cause jitters, small attention span, dizziness, and a lack of energy.

Patrick Hogan a Kent State Student said, “I spend most of my nights working on projects and don’t get to bed until 2:30am. When it’s time for me to get up, I’m still so tired I just sleep-in rather than eat breakfast.

Kent Market 2 Manager, Marlene Maneage has noticed the small number of students who eat breakfast on campus and is strong promoter of eating a fresh cooked breakfast.

Dining Services and Kent Market 2 offer a variety of fresh cooked food. From fresh cooked omelets, French toast, pancakes, and a yogurt bar. KM2 is open from 8:00am to 10:30am Monday-Friday where everything is made to order and prepared fresh.

Kent State University also offers services from certified dietitians to help students find healthy eating plans on campus.

Even if you’re on the go at least pack an apple, granola bars, or peanut butter sandwich.

Dietitian Aimee Budnik said, “Sleep and breakfast are equally important. Even if you’re on the go at least pack an apple, granola bars, or peanut butter sandwich. They’re all great natural food sources.”

So next time your on the go with no time remember the importance of eating something. Studies have shown that college students who eat from a healthy source for breakfast do better in school both academically and physically. Breakfast can improve grades, help maintain health wait, and keep your energy leaves high. It’s like they always say, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!”
