It’s a new era for Kent State.
Beverly J. Warren, Kent State University’s 12th president, is three weeks into her first semester.
I spoke with Eric Mansfield, the director of University media Relations to find out what our new president is doing this semester. She is currently focused on her semester long listening tour. The tour gives her the opportunity to visit Kent State’s facilities and meet with university leaders. It is intended to for the community to provide input and make recommendations for Dr. Warren, similar to a town hall meeting.
In a press conference Dr. Warren said that she will also be holding bi-weekly meetings through the semester to create an open dialogue with student media. Dr. Warren is also new to social media, and has been interacting with students on Twitter since coming to Kent.
Dr. Warren has over 25 years of experience in higher education, and was formerly the Vice President of Virginia Commonwealth University. She has a PhD in Exercise Physiology and has published articles on childhood obesity and the benefits of physical activity on metabolic health.
