My name is Tyler Thompson, the story I chose to cover is about the Gorge Dam. The 57-foot dam is long overdue for removal, and the process has been in the works within the past year-and-a-half. Women’s Center Assists with Food Insecurity A lot of students struggle with their basic needs while in college. Tuition and or student loan debt are already big issues for most students. Other problems can range from paying bills, gassing your car, or finding your next meal. The Women’s Center here on campus has found a way to alleviate some of that everyday stress. Junior Multimedia Journalism major, Nyla Henderson, covers this story here.            

  Service animals are a huge help for those with disabilities. A non-profit organization, 4 Paws for Ability, uses college campuses and students to help train and socialize service dogs. This helps them get ready to graduate from advanced training, and get placed with those in need of a service dog . Reporter Krista Renaldo, has more.

These seminars began in 2016. They are an eight hour course divided into two days. Students and staff interested must sign up online. Sharie Ellison has more.
