NEW COLLEGE OPENS FOR STUDENTS THIS FALL

As high school students consider their post-grad enrollment plans, a more affordable option is coming to the Akron area. Opening in Fall of 2018, Start State Community College will be celebrating its grand opening. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of March and currently is accepting students for its first semester. The new campus is being build directly across from The University of Akron. While you might assume the location would be undesirable to UA, students and workers alike see the addition as a positive for the community. The community college will offer a more affordable and comfortable education route for non-traditional students. It is expected the incoming freshman class size will decrease due to Stark State’s cheaper tuition, but UA sees this as a benefit and hopes to have students transfer to finish their degree. Karly Van Boxel from TV2 News has the story.
