Basketball Helps Education
Windham High School in Windham, OH held an alumni basketball game raising money for the Renaissance Family Center. The center is devoted to holding special events and especially helping tutor young children. TV2’s Zach Harley looks at how the Family Center has helped one young girl.

This was the third year that Windham High has held an alumni basketball game raising money for the Renaissance Family Center. The main reason the Family Center needs to stay up is the fact that it helps tutor many young individuals in the community.
Hiram College provides these tutors that take time out of their day, every Tuesday and Thursday, to help these kids get better academically, rather it be in writing, reading or any other subject.

Kelsey Knoll is an 8th grade student at Windham Junior High who has utilized the tutoring program for three years. Knoll says the center helps her with her become a better reader and because of that, she loves reading.
One of Hiram’s tutors, Sarah Cohrac, helps these children and says they help any student who is struggling with their homework or anything in school.
The fundraiser basketball game was organized by two community members with one being Crystal Hickman says “these fundraisers help us keep the building open” with the building not being funded by the government.
Kelsey also shared that because of the Family Center, she was able to reach all A’s and B’s on her report card.
