Who says that pageants are only for girls? What a great way to kick start Kent State’s Homecoming Weekend. Different organizations at Kent State are getting involved and showcasing their talents. TV2’s Aja Phillips reports..

The men of 10 different student organizations at Kent State will showcase their talents in the 3rd annual Mr. Flash Pageant Oct. 16 at 8p.m. in the Kiva.

The pageant is being hosted by the Center for Student Involvement.

This is a free event, but students are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to a local food bank.

“The pageant is a fun way for student organizations to be able to come together for a night of fun and friendly competition; to celebrate Homecoming spirit, and to benefit the community with a food donation,” said CSI Associate Director Jennifer Gunnoe.

Application process was open call and anyone could apply. The applicant’s student organization president’s approval and advisor’s signature was required to be chosen.

The grand prize for Mr. Flash 2014 gets a huge trophy, Domino’s pizza for a week, will get to walk in the homecoming parade and have the canned good items donated in the student organization’s name.

The contestants will be participating in male eveningwear, celebrity impersonation, swimwear, talent and Q&A.

Mr. Flash is chosen from a judging panel, while the contestant will also have an opportunity to win “Mr. Congeniality” and an “Audience Choice” winner through social media.

Senior,  Andrew Cappuzzello had the pleasure of winning Mr. Flash 2014 and the People’s Choice.
