
Allerton shuts down

Sixty-five Kent State students will be losing their homes by July 2015.
Lillian Rincon from Colombia currently lives in Allerton.She is a Kent State student studying English as a second language. She lives in Allerton with her husband and her 10 year old son Alvaro. She has been living in Allerton for 6 months but she will have to find a new home once Allerton shuts down.
The university decided it is best to tear down the buildings because they have reached the end of life span. The University is still deciding on what to do with the space it could be used for more student housing, reaction space or athletic fields.
The Osborn Engineering is preparing design and bids documents for the remaining Allerton Apartment Units A, B,C and D. Demolition will begin late summer 2015 after leases expires.
