Kent State student Liliana Rincon will not be cooking any more meals for her 10-year-old son Alvaro here at Allerton Apartment. The family will have to find a new place to call home when the apartments close in July.
Director of Residence Services Jill Church is not too happy about the apartment shutting down, but she believes it needs to be done.
“We know that the buildings over there are not in the condition that will serve students well.” Jill said
Sixty-five Kent State students will be losing their homes by July. The Allerton Apartment complex has been phased out for the past five years and this summer will be its last.
The Rincon’s have called the Allerton apartment home for six months. This is where Alvaro does his homework and where he plays video games. Liliana is studying English as a Second Language at Kent State and this where she spends most of her time doing her homework. Now they will be spending their time looking for a new place to call home.
“I am very sad.” Liliana said.
The Rincon family will not just have a hard time looking for a place to call home, but a place to stay for just two months before they leave for Colombia for summer vacation.
