A Representative’s View on How America Should Look after the Election

Election Day in the United States every four years often has the largest implications on the country’s future, and it was no different this time around.

In fact, the 2024 presidential election has been considered by many to hold the most levity for the U.S. in recent memory.

The race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris was watched closely by the entirety of the U.S. population, with everyone holding onto a certain stake in the long-awaited affair.

U.S. citizens have speculated what different impacts the election will have on themselves in a variety of ways.

Ohio representative Sean Brennan just got elected for a second term in the House of Representatives, and he has his own opinions on the future of the country.

He acknowledges that he “doesn’t have a crystal ball,” but he tries to think of himself as an “eternal optimist” in regards to the happenings within the government.

“I’m  just hopeful that when they go to work every single day, that they’ll go to work every single day like I do,” Brennan says, “wanting to do the best thing they possibly can to improve the lives of their constituents.”

He is hopeful that America can right the ship in terms of improving the overall quality of life for Americans.

One of Brennan’s biggest hopes mainly lies with the younger generations of America, noting how the states have a responsibility to better cultivate the young minds as they go into their mature years.

The way in which he wants to see this impact being made is through college funding and alternatives to college.

Brennan supports the passing of the Hunger-Free Campus Act, a bill that will make more of an effort to make sure that college students on campus are being nourished better than they are right now.

“We can be creative with how we control college costs,” Brennan says, “we can support young people who don’t want to go to college as well.”

He emphasizes the significance of the latter, as well.

Brennan, 54, uses his prior experience as a teacher early on in his working career when his students didn’t know what they wanted to do in life.

He hopes that America can fix this problem where young adults are indecisive on their future, and it is part of his own goals as a re-elected representative to give them a future.

These views also reflect his take on American society as well.

Brennan believes that the greatest challenge in terms of the prosperity of the U.S. people may lie between themselves rather than with the government.

He notes that U.S. citizens have as much, if not more of a responsibility than the government to bridge the gap between each other to create a better union within the population.

Brennan calls back to the preamble of the Constitution, noting that the Founding Fathers didn’t only mean that the elected officials have the power to “create a more perfect union.”

“I think we put too much emphasis on our elected officials to solve all of our problems,” Brennan says, “but all of us as citizens have the right, and really the responsibility to be involved in making our community better.”

Though the election in 2024 may seem polarizing to many, Brennan wants to see American society work towards a greater level of acceptance between the two main ideals.

Unity is what Brennan wants to see being brought to America over the next presidential term, and his ideal society is one that works together despite a difference in beliefs.

Overall, Brennan believes that America’s population doesn’t need to rely entirely on elected officials to improve the quality of their own lives, but he does think that progress should be made in both the government and society as a whole.

The question of how America can be made better for all people is very important to Brennan, and he hopes that the recent elected officials as well as the people can make efforts towards that goal.
