Celebration Of Life

        On Sunday November 19th, friends and family gathered in Cartwright Hall to celebrate the life of the late Professor Halim El-Dabh. El-Dabh resided and taught in Kent for a number of years, after composing many musical pieces. Many long-time friends of El-Dabh came and shared stories on their memories of him. Native-American Student Association Host Panel Discussion on Cultural Appropriation

      The Native-American Student Association (NASA) held a panel discussion on Cultural Appropriation. Often times we view images that depict other cultures in as a trend, not seeing how offensive they tend to be. Chief Wahoo, the Cleveland Indians baseball mascot, is one example of this trend. Black United Students Under New Leadership

Major changes have impacted a historical Kent State organization. On Wednesday October 25th, Black United Students (BUS) held an emergency meeting to discuss its new leadership. The previous day, Iniah Dunbar resigned as president, an action that immediately took effect. BUS board members had to make a quick decision with choosing the next leader of the organization.   Portage County’s Board of Developmental Disabilities is under fire for an out-of-date contract. Since Wednesday, October 4th, the board’s Service and Support Administrators have been on strike. Many of them feel they have not been paid a livable wage and that the board is to blame.
